Overview
Chapter One Restaurant chef/patron Andy McLeish together with business partner Marcel Faulstich took the decision to invest in providing a gourmet take-away ‘Dinner Date’, Chapter One at Home. They began this venture in May, anticipating further lockdowns during the autumn and winter months. It also enabled customers who were perhaps vulnerable, to access Chapter One’s cuisine from the restaurant during the ‘rule of six’ (now considered a luxury!)
Their vision was quality and scale if it was to be profitable. To help promote the concept they decided that they needed not only photography for recipe cards and social platforms but also video.
Brief
Filming with Andy McLeish dish preparation for Chapter One at Home, photography of final dishes and and recipe card files.
Production
The filming took place over one day with a crew of two. It was filmed ‘at home’ all 23 dishes were prepared from a customer take-away perspective. These were filmed using two cameras (Canon C300) one tight, one wide, plus lighting. A ‘still’ of the final dish was then taken to add to the video, for the recipe card. Imagery was also used on social platforms to drive traffic and generate conversions.
Each video was edited, including a final still of the dish and uploaded onto the Vimeo platform. In addition to the filming, photography and re-touching, we created the recipe card files. The recipe card is included with the box of ingredients and has a QR code allowing the customer to scan to access the video. A list of all allergens were also listed.
Chapter One features in the Michelin Guide, top Lockdown Takeaways for the South East.

Outcome
A professional delivery of visual media for the client to promote on their platforms. This has allowed the restaurant to continue to trade during the toughest of times for the Hospitality Industry. In addition Chapter One at Home has created loyalty and support of a much loved and respected neighbourhood restaurant. This is a fine example of a vision and strategy to reach a goal at a time when it has been critical to adapt during these challenging times, provided so generously by the pandemic.
