Overview
The Court of Master Sommeliers was established in 1977 and is the premier examining body for Sommeliers worldwide.
Brief
To create a promoțional video for the Court, providing an overview of the organisation, presented by a range of Master Sommeliers at a range of locations throughout the UK, from Hotels and restaurants. We needed to capture an explanation of what’s involved at the Court, the training involved and information about the various levels of examinations and how students can prepare for them.
Production
Locations included: Hotel du Vin, Winchester, Gusbourne Wine, Core by Clare Smyth & Cabot.
As each of the master sommeliers had to deliver a fair amount of information we decided that using the autocue would be helpful. Scripts were provided which were transferred to the iPad and linked to the autocue.
Effectively these were interviews in different settings. As our aim to achieve consistency we took the same equipment on location:
Canon R5C – 4K
Lenses 24-70mm & 70-200mm
Black Magic PYXIS 6K
Lighting – Lantern, Neeuar
Autocue & iPad
A combination of subjects were seated and standing. Laura Rhys we made two visits to Gusbourne as we wanted to film here with the backdrop of the vines. The first occasion was too windy with the wind coming up from the sea affecting the sound quality.
The edit
The edit involved following the script intersped with PDF’s of information about certain elements about the course.
Outcome
The video has been used for newsletters and primarily on the website.
